Wakama

Yesterday we went down to the boat ramp and participated in Wakama. Fonz, Ezra, Ethan, Izaiah and I went down first to go help put the Waka in the water. The guys that were there were Rob and Ropata. After they introduced themselves we put the Waka in the water. The rest of the class came down to help us. We went to Maikukus cave A lady called Sharee told us about her and her cave. My WALT was to steer the Waka. I did well in steering the Waka. I think I can do better in participating a bit more.

Gaming survey

In Te ngahere, we created a infographic  to show our gaming stats for the whole class.
We were interested to find out about the gaming issues that we have in our class.
We filled in the survey about how much time we spend gaming, and not eating while playing games.
I think I did well filling the survey in. Next time I should add some images of what I play.

Beeswax Wraps

Yesterday we made some beeswax wraps. We were given a small square fabric to design before we had to dip it in the beeswax. When we finished we waited until Anouk came to get three student to go with her. We had to use them for our lunch. Instead of using glad wrap or tin foil we use these. What I enjoyed was drawing my design and dipping it in the beeswax.

Technology

In  Te Ngahere we have been doing technology with Mr Lindsay.
We were learning how to use different types of equipment.
I think I did well in sanding and oiling the pallets.
I enjoyed oiling and drilling the pallets.
I think we could do better at drilling the holes more accurately.

Rugby Sevens

On Tuesday some of the  year 7&8s went to Moerewa  to play a Sevens tournament. There were different schools. We played against Kerikeri, Kaingaroa and Okaihau. We beat Kaingaroa we lost by one against Okaihau and we lost against KeriKeri. I don’t know what the score was for KeriKeri. I think we did well with drawing and passing.

Energise

On Monday Whaea Gina came to Paihia School to talk about what drinks we should have everyday, sometimes and hardly ever. The first drink we started with was raro. Did you know that there are twenty teaspoons of sugar in raro? We looked at the other drinks she brought. There was water which is an everyday thing. There was a V can which has twenty five teaspoons of sugar in it. Whaea Gina even said that kids have died drinking V. And it has as much caffeine as a normal coffee does. It was also shocking to see what we were putting in our bodies.

Endemic bird, plant and insects

The last two weeks Te Ngahere has been creating some presentations about insects, trees and birds. We were learning about endemic and native birds, insects and trees.  My buddy and I chose an insect first. The second presentation was a bellbird. The insect we chose was the weta. I enjoyed researching about them.

Poem

Kingi is...
  • Kingi is a bus full of learning.
  • Kingi is a runner trying to pick up speed to achieve his goals.
  • Kingi is a flower full of happiness.
  • Kingi is a wasp that is protective fast and furious.
  • Kingi is a tree that keeps growing everyday.

My digital Pepeha

The last few weeks we have been working on our digital pepeha.  Our WALT was to introduce ourselves and our whanau. I enjoyed saying my pepeha to the other student to help them.  I did well in teaching the other students how to say their pepeha.
