SST TOPIC

Racism comes from people spreading rumours. The gossip attracts people and gets them interested. Don't spread misinformation about people or avoid having conversations with people about being racist. This is related to how the Jews were treated. They were treated very badly. The Nazis thought they weren't worth anything. The Nazi germanys in slaved the Jews to work for them and they always were treated bad for example they could never eat properly or have a house because any nazi could just take their house. Why did countries get people to work for them for example America got the Black/Nigro people to work for them.

Human Rights

The most important thing I learned was Human rights and social justice. What surprised me was that George Zimmerman never got sentenced or arrested after he killed a citizen. A question I would like to ask is that why did he not get arrested and sentenced for what he did to Trayvon martin. In conclusion I don't like how the case was just left and how George Zimmerman was never sentenced.

Heart and dissection

The start of this week we dissected hearts. We learnt about the structure of the heart, what types of blood flow through your heart and we also learnt about lungs and how they inhale and exhale oxygen. I enjoyed cutting the heart with my friends and getting a first person experience. This was all fun because I have never cut open a heart and it was a fun but stink (because it was very smelly) experience. I am looking forward to learning and experiencing new experiments and tasks next year.

Wellington trip

On the 16th to 18th of November the year 9 social studies group. The first place we visited was the national library an interesting fact about the national library is that it had the original documents of waitangi. The Parliament building was very interesting but very big. My favourite place at the parliament building was the chamber room because thats where the prime minister sits when they vote. My favourite place in te papa was the gallipoli WW1 place, They had giant army men that looked like real people. Over all I loved this trip and it was really fun and amazing.

Comparing Culture

The past two weeks in social studies our class has been learning about different cultures. We had to research four aspects from New Zealand and another country. The country I chose to compare with New Zealand was Italy. The four aspects I chose to study were food, clothing, arts and crafts and beliefs. I found that both countries have a lot of difference between the aspects I chose.  I hope you learn something from my research.
