Aha Ngapuhi

Yesterday and today the Te Ngahere kapa haka roopu learnt the original actions and kupu for Aha Ngapuhi. It is a very slow haka but it has a lot of aggression to it. What I found hard was pronouncing the words and doing the actions at the end. Now I have them stuck in my head. What we learnt from this that some people got lazy and didn’t wanna pronounce the kupu properly. Have you ever forgotten how to do something and had to learn it again?

In Te Ngahere we have been reading and learning about Kupe, Nukutawhiti, James Cook and Abel Tasman. Our WALT was to understand how and why people like Kupe, Jame Cook, Abel Tasman and Nukutawhiti came to Aotearoa and the significance of these journeys. What I think I did well was finding facts about James Cook. What I enjoyed was learning about what he did and all of his travels. What I think I need to do better next time is to not social talk to my learning buddies.

My digital Pepeha

The last few weeks we have been working on our digital pepeha.  Our WALT was to introduce ourselves and our whanau. I enjoyed saying my pepeha to the other student to help them.  I did well in teaching the other students how to say their pepeha.

Visual mihi

In week one of term 4 we made a visual mihi on a google drawing. We did this because we had to say our class mihi. The visual mihi was to understand what we were saying. I chose the Bellbird because the mihi starts with a bird.
